Strange occurences in the Logan residence…..

I just want to start this post off by saying that I am a huge believer in the “unseen”.  That means spirit guides, angels, and the paranormal.  Being raised by a mom who, despite believing in God, believes that once you’re dead, you’re dead, and there’s no such thing as ghosts, and a father who believed in spirits and life after death, allowed me to form my own opinions.  These opinions, or feelings I have on this particular subject, have always fluctuated somewhere between faith that “someone” is watching over me, to fear that “something is watching me”.  Let’s face it, sometimes weird things that happen that can be explained, and sometimes they just can’t.  I don’t think that what we can’t see can necessarily hurt us, but they can certainly startle us or give us that “creepy feeling”.

A few years ago, I was sitting in bed reading in the evening.  Haley had gone to bed, and Ryan was working his night job.  All was quiet.  The lights started to flicker, which I didn’t think much of, but all of a sudden I noticed this ticking noise.  Beside my bed sat an old exercise bicycle, that had one of those wind-up timers on it.  The timer was set for five minutes.  No one but me had been in that room.  I know I didn’t touch it.  Hmmmm.  Weird.

The next day, I was in my living room watching TV.  I had a water fountain that sat on a side table near my couch.  Out of the corner of my eye, I saw something move.  There, laying on the floor, was a rock that had been on the fountain.  The fountain wasn’t running, and no one was moving around the living room – how did this rock just fly off the fountain onto the floor?

I had the privilege of speaking to a very knowledgeable medium named Lawrence Harry (if you’re ever in Nanaimo, look this guy up, he’s really good), and before I had the chance to tell him about all the disturbances around my house, he told me that my grandfather, who died when I was very young and never really got the chance to know, was around me and letting me know that he was there.  I accepted the explanation, and the occurances stopped.

When we moved into this house, I found that almost every time I had a bath or a shower, something would “knock” on the bathroom door.  Kind of freaked me out the first few times it happened, when I knew I was home alone, I would think someone had broken in.  Now I’m just used to it.  Whether there is a reasonable explanation for it, I can’t figure out, but it doesn’t really bother me.

Other than that, things have been fairly calm and quiet, until recently.  My daughter has been having a lot of nightmares lately, to the point that I have to sleep in the living room with her because she is scared to be alone in her room.  When she slept in the room across from us, she used to say that she “saw pictures moving on our door”.  I just assumed it was a bad dream.  A few weeks ago, she dreamed of a mean lady standing at her doorway and wouldn’t let her by to come get me.  She wouldn’t go back to bed, in case the lady came back.  Again, I chalked it up to being a bad dream.  WELL, a few nights ago, Haley came to get me again, but Ryan woke up before me (which is really bizarre, since my mommy radar usually goes off as soon as she walks in my room – I’m usually awake before she even speaks).  He took her back to bed and asked her what her dream was about.  She usually won’t talk about it, but that night she did.  She told him about seeing two people standing beside her bed – a man and a woman.  She described them as being transparent.  She got out of bed, and she felt one of them touch her.   To top that off, Ryan had just been dreaming about two ghosts standing on our stairs – a man and a woman.  YIKES.

Last night, Ryan said he could feel someone put their hand on his shoulder.  He thought it was me, but when he rolled over, he saw that I was facing the other way, fast asleep.

What to make of this?  I am quite sure that we have visitors.  Who they are is a different story.  What they are doing in our house is yet another different story.

What do YOU think?

  1. lol I see you are playing with the polls

Yup somewhere between creepy and weird… I hate stuff like that.. I insist on finding an answer… I ignore it in the special do something way and make it go away .. 😉

  2. I find that if I feel a “presence”, it doesn’t bother me so much – like the knocking on the bathroom door, there’s no creepy feeling that goes along with it. However, when I have to go downstairs to do the laundry, I will sometimes get that creepy feeling like something is right behind me, like it’s reaching out and grabbing me. After Ryan told me about his dream of seeing people on the stairs, it freaks me out.
